Nigel Townson es profesor de Historia en la Universidad Europea (CEES) de Madrid. Licenciado por la Universidad de Cambridge, llevó a cabo su máster y su tesis doctoral en la Universidad de Londres. Ha sido el editor de El republicanismo en España (1830-1977) (1994) y de tres tomos que recogen la obra de Arturo Barea: Palabras recobradas (2000), La forja de un rebelde (2000) y Cuentos completos (2001). Asimismo ha sido, durante seis años, periodista de la BBC, donde realizó numerosos documentales y reportajes sobre la historia de España y también reportajes sobre la actualidad española.
